Contemporary Doulas was created to provide modern, professional, evidence-based doula trainings that reach far beyond the typical programs available. Our comprehensive trainings prepare you with the skills and confidence to provide invaluable support that is respected and desired from families in any setting, right from the start. It is our goal to have our doulas become positive agents of change in their communities through passion, education, support and advocacy. We are committed to responding to the desires of dedicated individuals seeking to become professional birth workers now more than ever. MEET LORIE
Lorie McCoy has been educating and advocating for families in South Florida since 1999. She is the founder of the Orchid Nest and a recognized international doula trainer and mentor. Her life’s work is to change current birthing practices that are not respectful to our newest citizens nor supportive of a mother’s and birthing person’s intuitive wisdom concerning birth and their body. Lorie is a certified birth doula and has had the honor of attending well over 2000 births. She is a renowned HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator, HypnoBirthing Fertility Practitioner, trainer for the HypnoBirthing Institute and a certified hypnotist. She is also an aromatherapy enthusiast and responsible for creating her own holistic product line that sells both in her boutique at the Orchid Nest and online.
Dr. Vivian Keeler is a Chiropractic Physician, Certified Doula, HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator and Certified Hypnotist whose focus is on the care of pregnant women and their families. By encouraging women to trust in their bodies and educating them so that they may make informed choices, she empowers them to have healthier, safer and more positive childbirth experiences. Dr. Vivian is known for bringing an aura of calmness to the birth place and for sharing her wisdom with gentle kindness. Dr. Keeler was awarded the HypnoBirthing Institute’s Diamond Award in 2008 for outstanding contributions to the advancement of HypnoBirthing and has been named Vice President of the HypnoBirthing Institute. She has traveled nationally and internationally certifying birth professionals to teach HypnoBirthing. Dr. Vivian is the founder of Amazing Births and Beyond and is the co-creator of several training programs. She has been featured in numerous articles about Chiropractic and Pregnancy, HypnoBirthing and Doula Services.
